Last night was the opposite of the night before. Since we had been getting so little sleep, Tara and Sophie were concerned about Elisa’s well being. So at about 11 pm Sophie offered to help rock Eden to sleep. Elisa and I went to bed gratefully. Tara says that Eden went to sleep pretty quickly too. But then Tara and Sophie were worried that Eden might wake up and then wake us up too. So they decided to stay up and watch her sleep. They played cards together until midnight… then 1… then 2… then 3… then 4. At 4:30 Elisa and I got up to see where Eden was. Tara and Sophie were on the couch having breakfast. They were SO punch drunk. 😮

Eden woke us up a lot last night—6 feedings between 10 pm and 6 am. Elisa really hasn’t been herself today. By the time she finally had the opportunity to rest this morning, her appetite and her energy were all gone. All day, Tara and Sophie have cared for Eden so Elisa would get some recovery time.
Our midwife dropped in again today. Even though we hoped she would have some counsel about how we could make our nights go easier, she said that wouldn’t be possible. Eden is too young to adopt anyone’s schedule other than her own. The midwife also reminded us that this is the job we signed up for, and that first-time parents are bound to be too tired to function.
We’ve continued to upload a few baby photos each day.
Tara and Gramma Sophie arrived on Saturday. The first thing we noticed is that they had a lot of energy. They stayed up all day and then slept all night, in a way that we’ve never been able to do. And now, probably never will. 😉 We have only shown them a little bit of Switzerland—the church and the grocery store. They are helping a ton around the apartment, so everyone’s happy for the time being. I’ve felt really good so I was able to go to the airport to pick them up. And we made it to sacrament meeting on Sunday. I think I’m down for the count now though. Elisa has to gather her strength before she does more big outings, or small. 🙁
Things seem to be going really well with Eden. The midwife checked everything out on Sunday and bolstered our confidence. Eden is the prettiest little thing, and such a sweet cuddler! You can’t bear to put her down.
