First Date

Barbara and Marcus babysat for us so that we could have a romantic fondue dinner. Elisa and I can’t wait until we are empty nesters! (Just kidding.) We chose outdoor seating even though it was pretty cold. It turned out to be absolutely better than perfect. The staff brought out blankets for us to wrap up in while we ate. We had the whole yard to ourselves. We could kiss as much as we wanted.

Mom and Jordy arrived from Italy last night. All week this week I’ve been wishing they’d come back sooner. It’s hard for them to be so close and not here. My mom lost her passport, so that’s a bummer. The rest of the trip sounds like a lot of fun. We have more things we want to do now.

A Rose by Any Other Name

We think Eden is our little Froggie. Or maybe our monkey. Eden curls her legs up into her chest in a great frog pose. Most of the time she manages to work her legs free of her sleeper so the sleeper legs hang limp. She doesn’t look like she has legs anymore. It’s the most comfortable fetal position for her. She also has really long arms, so we call her our monkey. She also makes a great elephant sound when she is starting to go to sleep. I looked it up online but I couldn’t find anything about other babies that trumpet like baby elephants. Everyone must see the little video where she is a squeaky little mouse too. But she is also our rag doll, because she goes so floppy and limp when she relaxes. There is nothing to add–but that we love her and she makes us smile and laugh a lot.

Over-Tired

All this time that Elisa and I thought we were over-tired, the problem might really have been that Eden was over-tired. I think we have been over-stimulating her to the point that she wasn’t getting enough restful sleep. Because she is so cute, there’s always someone who wants to hold her and rock her. And with grandmas here, there is always some conversation going on. I think we all need some quiet moments. We’re trying to watch her cues better for signs of sleepiness. Sometimes when she is cranky we’ve recognized that the problem is that she needed to be in bed. Everytime we figure out something like this it makes us feel like geniuses in the parenting department.
