No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Chad broke our $4 bed while doing some sort of aerobatic activity. I love our bed, so it is too bad. But I also hate our bed, because it cost us $4 and a big pain in the neck, and a long time to get–so I am a little thrilled that I get to find something new. Chad took the feet off and the supports and now our mattress and box-spring are sitting on the floor with the bed frame lying around it. Now our bed isn’t dangerous to get in and out of and you can actually see the head board. I do believe Switzerland will be the bed’s final resting place.

I found the blog post where we finally got the beds: http://chadandelisa.parry.org/blog/archives/4.

I also found the story we sent in to our family newsletter in September, 2006:

Elisa and I have gotten into the habit of measuring all our purchases in
terms of how many stoves or how many beds we could get with the money.
Our KitchenAid (which is very heavy) tipped over onto our range top and
destroyed the ceramic surface. It was about as expensive to replace the
entire unit as it would have been to replace just the ceramic. So we
unexpectedly doled out $1000 for a new stove. Now when we look at the
price of something like a car we say, “That’s 6 stoves.” We had a mishap
with the bed too. We had ordered a bed online but the company turned out
to be less than responsible. We got the wrong feet for the bed and after
2 ½ months they were still unable to resolve the problem. They
accidentally sent us a second bed with similarly mismatched feet! Finally
they just refunded us the money. I bought $8 of hardware at Home Depot
and was able to get the feet to work out OK. So we got two queen sleigh
beds for $8. So now when we are buying something like a laptop we say,
“That’s 150 beds!”
