Mother’s Day

We had a nice weekend together. Aren’t weekends wonderful? We got a lot done on Saturday, including packing some boxes, scanning in tons of photos, throwing away junk, and buying our final flights back to the States. So the countdown begins until July 1st.

Chad is good to me every day. So for Mother’s Day he was good to me again. We had a nice relaxing day. I got to watch a movie while Eden was awake! Chad made me chocolate angel food cake. He even got Eden to mark a piece of paper up with crayons for our moms.

We are really blessed to know some wonderful women. They are talented. They are great examples of goodness, sacrifice and love. They are patient and have incredible strength. They are always learning. They pay so much attention to the individuality of all their family members. We are the lucky ones who get to call them Mom. Thanks Idaho Mom and Seattle Mom for all you have done for us and continue to do. We love you!

Surgery Date

Eden will be going  to the Kinderspital on Tuesday May 19th at 9:30 am for surgery preparation–so long as she doesn’t get sick and the hospital doesn’t have a surge of emergency cases to deal with. That is good news, right? Her little lump is not an emergency case!

I’ll stay the night with her and the surgery will be sometime the next day May 20th. We will stay one more night for obervation. What a long few days! Chad has the 21st off for Ascension Day and then we have a long weekend. Hooray for Catholic holidays. I suppose we’ll be staying home for the time off again since Eden will be post-op! We will probably need the time at home. But we also only have a few weekends left to travel around Europe.

The Rest of Our Long Weekend

We all did a lot of nothing on Saturday.

We had stake conference on Sunday morning. Chad was good. I was not so good. I stayed home and let Eden get a good nap while I worked on primary stuff while Chad endured the headache of trying to concentrate during a meeting that you are trying to understand in German but can’t quite follow so you have to listen to the English as well. I have gotten next to nothing out of our church meetings since we have been joined by our sweet bundle of joy and wiggles. Chad is great and usually takes her and tries to entertain her. Try I as I may my head just hears lots of words and fails to string them together to form ideas. Sadly, I do not think the meetings being in English would help much.  We always blame our short attention spans on the German. And our bad spelling too.

The Todds came over for dinner in the afternoon. We ate really well. Food is so good. We also played Mother May I. The kids couldn’t get enough of it. Chad and I seem to like to make fools of ourselves, in front of not just friends but complete strangers as well, (like when we were waiting for the ferry leaving Mainau Island).

We decided to draw the solar system and lots of cool looking aliens on the sidewalk with chalk. Eden was playing in the grass and eating her fair share. We thought it was safe enough. Then the next thing we know both Jarrod and Jenna are hovering over her as she gags. How sweet. After a few minutes of their parental instincts kicking in I went and grabbed her. She more than gagged this time. Eden and I went up to the apartment to change and she managed to throw up a nice little pokey twig. It was pretty thin like a blade of grass but not so smooth for swallowing. Poor girl! I guess we’ll need to be more aware of what she is trying to ingest.
